Missing in Most Darjeeling Blogs – Practical Tips

  • Tiger Hill tickets: There are viewing gallery fees and heavy crowds in Oct and May – leave by 4 AM.
  • Toy train: Joyrides sell out during Durga Puja and Diwali; book on IRCTC early. In Oct 2026, festive Darjeeling–Ghum joyrides are around ₹800 per person (check latest).
  • Parking: Vehicles cannot enter the Mall; expect a short uphill walk to many hotels.
  • Weather: Mornings are cold even in October – carry a jacket.
  • Shopping: Buy tea from estate outlets for authenticity; check the first/second flush label.
