  1. Share a photo ID (Aadhaar, Voter ID, Passport, Driving Licence) and 2 passport-size photos.
  2. Your operator submits details to the Tourism & Civil Aviation Department, Sikkim.
  3. The permit is issued with your vehicle number – keep a copy with you.

Foreign nationals can visit Tsomgo Lake in groups with a valid RAP and PAP. For full details, read our Sikkim permit guide. When you book the Gangtok & Tsomgo Lake package, Guide My Tour handles the permit for you.

Things to Do at Tsomgo Lake

  • Yak ride along the lakeshore (short rides are paid separately).
  • Cable car near the lake for higher views (weather permitting).
  • Local snacks – hot Maggi, momos and tea at the roadside stalls.
  • Photography – the north side of the lake gives the best reflection in the morning.
  • Continue to Baba Mandir and Nathula Pass on the same day.

Best Time to Visit Tsomgo Lake

October–November: clear sky, blue water, mild cold. January–March: the lake freezes and snowfall is common, but roads may close after heavy snow. April–May: flowers bloom around the lake. June–September: monsoon fog and landslide risk. Compare seasons in our best time to visit Sikkim guide.

Gaps We Fixed: What Other Tsomgo Lake Guides Don’t Tell You
